Why Do So Many Men Keep The Stubble Look?

As we mentioned, according to one study, women tend to find men more attractive when they have a little stubble.

If more guys knew this I’m sure you would see 5 o’clock shadows popping up everywhere!

Of course, you may work in an office setting and have stay clean shaven.

However, if you have the freedom to choose your beard style this could be a great option for appearance as well as maintenance.

You won’t have to trim your stubble on a daily basis, maybe just every few days or weekly which is nice if you don’t like shaving every day with a razor.

The study even went on to say that the longer your beard the more attractive guys were to ladies looking for long term relationships.

Of course, this is just one study but the findings are interesting.

What Is The Best Stubble Length?

This is a tough question because what your girl likes or what you like will be completely different for guys everywhere trying to grow stubble.

The other thing to think about is every man’s beard grows at different speeds and thickness. So, what may look thick at a shorter length for one dude, it may take double that length for someone else to achieve the same look.

A couple days could do the trick for some or if you’re like me you would need a couple weeks.

The first thing to do to start your perfect stubble look is to grow out your beard to at least the length you want your stubble.

This also allows you to see any areas of your beard that might be a little thinner.

After you have grown out your beard for a little while you need to shape it up so you don’t look too scruffy.

A clean stubble look is the way to go.

Using the longest setting that will cut you beard, with one of these trimmers go ahead and trim the whole thing.

If you like the way this looks then you can move on to shaping it. If it looks a little longer try a shorter setting, just try not to cut off too much so you have to wait for the growth again.

When you are ready to shape, you can use the lowest setting to give yourself clean edges and you may even want to take those down to the skin with your favorite razor.

How much or how little stubble to leave is up completely up to you so try out different lengths to see which you like best.

What To Look For

When looking to buy the a stubble trimmer, not all are created equal.

While many of these recommendations will have similar features, some will have more or less than others.

Features to look for:

  • Length settings – if you think you will want to try out different lengths of stubble you will want to be sure the trimmer you get has a wide range of length options. Some do this with different guards and others with adjustable heads.
  • Long battery life – this shouldn’t be a huge deal but you won’t want to have to constantly charge your beard trimmer.
  • Waterproof – the biggest benefit of this feature is to keep your shaver clean. You probably won’t want to use the trimmer in the shower.
  • Additional attachments – some trimmers come with other grooming attachments you can use like precision trimmers and nose hair trimmers.

Where Should You Buy

We tend to recommend Amazon for products like these trimmers.

They usually have the best prices and you can quickly compare different models/brands to see which ones have the features you are looking for.

The main benefit is that Amazon usually has the most reviews so you can see what many different guys have to say about the products, good and bad.

Of course, it could be hard to rely on someone else’s review when you don’t know what their beard is like but some are good at providing detailed descriptions so you can usually find one that you can relate to.

Recommendations

[su_box title=”Conair for Men Super Stubble” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

The Conair Super Stubble trimmer is similar to the I-stubble model with a few upgrades.

They have upgraded the battery on this so you get a longer run time and it only takes 80 minutes to charge instead of 4 hours.

You can also use this wet or dry when shaving however you won’t be able to use it while it is charging.

There are also 9 additional length settings within the same range (.4-5 mm). Not sure if that is worth the extra $20 or so.

If you really like to trim your beard in the shower than it may be worth it to pay the extra money for this one but besides that it is basically the same trimer as the I-stubble in black.

The reviews have mentioned pretty much the same pros and cons. However, you may not find as much value in these as you may be able to get similar results with other trimmers for a lot less money.

[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Remington PG6025 All-in-1″ style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

We like the Remington PG6025 for many reasons, the main one being value.

They are other trimmers on this list that are more expensive and have more features or length settings but are you really going to notice a difference between 10 settings and 15?

How many do you really need?

So, for around $20 you get this trimmer with 8 pieces including a travel case that will help you keep everything together so you don’t lose any attachments.

The full-size trimmer comes with a foil shaver for areas you want to shave down, 3 beard guards, as well as a nose/ear detail trimmer.

Another great feature of this trimmer is a full charge gets you 60 minutes of run time and it only takes 4 hours for a full charge.

That may seem like a lot compared to regular electric shavers but some of the other trimmers on this list require 8-16 hours for a full charge.

This trimmer also comes with a 60-day money back guarantee and a 2-year limited warranty. You can try it risk free!

While this trimmer comes highly rated there are a few complaints. Some guys say it stopped working after a short while or the battery stopped charging.

However, you can see the manufacturer respond to most of them so it seems like they are trying hard to keep people happy and improve their reputation.

[su_box title=”A Close Second – Philips Norelco Multigroom 3100″ style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

While the Philips Norelco Multigroom 3100 might be a little more popular than the Remington with almost 6,000 reviews, it came down to the battery.

The battery on this trimmer only last 35 minutes and takes 10 hours to charge so that is why we dropped it down to number two on the list.

You also can’t use it while it is plugged in since it is sold as a water proof device and the manufacturer wouldn’t want anyone trying to use it in the shower while it is plugged in 😊

Although it does come with 5 attachments

  • Trimmer
  • Nose trimmer
  • Beard/mustache trimmer
  • Stubble comb
  • Detail trimmer

The combs can also be used with 18 different length settings so this one will give you a little more range on the length of your stubble.

There are some similar battery issue complaints on this razor just like the Remington, however, again there is a 45-day trial period and a 2-year warranty so they will get the device replaced.

Overall this a great trimmer that is versatile to not only trim your stubble but your hair on your head as well.  And it is affordable which is always nice.

[su_box title=”Conair for Men I-Stubble” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

If you are looking for convenience, Conair’s I-Stubble trimmer could be the way to go.

While it is a little more expensive than some of these other shavers, you won’t have to worry about losing any attachments…because there are none!

It still has 15 different length settings ranging from .4m (5 o’clock shadow) to 5 mm which isn’t quite a ¼ inch.

A full charge on its battery will give you 45 minutes of run time. You will need to charge it for 16 hours before its first use, however after that 4 hours will do for a full charge.

The head on this stubble trimmer is floating on suspension which allows it to hug your face over the contours of your skin.

It seems many of these trimmers have potential battery issues as some guys reported theirs not holding charges within the warranty period and getting the unit replaced.

However, other men just replaced the battery with a better one and found it to be an easy solution. Still you shouldn’t have to expect to replace the battery in these.

When the razor is working properly though, it seems to work really well catching many of the hairs so you don’t make a mess.

It may also be good if you have sensitive skin.

[su_box title=”Remington MB4045B” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

This Remington MB4045B: not to be mixed up with the Remington MB4045, is among the best-designed trimmers with a vast array of lengths and a long-lasting battery life.

This good-looking device fits impeccably in the hands. It is also nicely crafted and comes with a powerful, speedy motor.

Now let us take a look at the titanium coated blades of this beard trimmer. Titanium coating implies that the blades are way more long lasting compared to stainless steel. Its self-honing blades only require small amounts of oil to get applied occasionally.

For individuals who like letting their beards grow bushy at times, this is the ideal model to utilize since it shaves as close as 0.2mm. That is just a single hair longer compared to shaving using a razor blade, no pun intended.

Choose to keep your stubble in check even if it’s comparatively long, and you can also feel free to hack it all away at a varied range of lengths.

Some of the Pros and cons of Remington MB4045B

Pros:

  • Has one of the strongest trimmer motors
  • Also comes with strong titanium coated blades
  • Great and extended battery life
  • Has 3 distinct adjustable guards to offer lots of different settings
  • Has a 2-year warranty

Cons:

  • Blades need to be taken out to be cleaned
  • Has a big increment in between settings

[su_box title=”Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

This trimmer has always made it into the “Top 3 Beard Trimmers” list for 3 main reasons: it comes with an exceptional battery life, it is extremely powerful, and it is amazingly sharp.

It’s extremely sharp, flat edge is idyllic for precision cutting: so if you prefer having your facial hairs looking straight and neat, this is the excellent pick for you.

Even if you do not care about your stubble staying perfectly edged to an unswerving line, this beard trimmer is amazing, particularly considering its price.

Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper also comes in 4 different blade attachments. One narrow Precision Detailer (used for shaving hard to reach regions such as nose and ear hair), one standard sized Dual Shaver, one wide precision T-Blade, and one default Trimmer Blade.

It also comprises 3 guards for the Precision T-Blade and 4 distinct guards for the trimmer blade.

Some of the Pros and cons of Wahl Lithium Ion Clipper.

Pros:

  • Comes with a 5-year warranty
  • Once you purchase this beard trimmer, you are assured to grant yourself Precise cutting
actions due to its extremely sharp blades
  • Has an impressive battery life
  • Also has sufficient torque to clean extremely quickly.
  • Its Rubbery grip averts drops and spillages.

Cons:

  • Has a comparatively loud motor
  • Does not work if its battery is empty even if it’s plugged in
  • Blades need to be removed for cleaning

[su_box title=”Philips Norelco Multigroom 5100 Grooming Kit” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

Some of the Pros and cons of The Philips Norelco Multigroom 5100 Grooming Kit.

  • You can use it cordless for up to one hour
  • User-friendly and can be washed beneath the faucet
  • Has a styling versatility
  • Comes with adjustable length combs
  • Can easily access hard to reach areas and trim them with great detail

Cons:

  • The fine stubble trimmer leaves impartially visible hairy spots

  • The battery dies comparatively faster

[/su_box]
[su_box title=”Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer Series 3500″ style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

If you like the idea of the I-stubble with no attachments the Norelco 3500 Beard trimmer is almost half the price and may give similar results.

It has 20 built in length settings with a manual adjustment instead of electronic, however this is less likely to break.

The 3500 trimmer is washable and have a 1 hour battery run time on a 2-hour charge so a little better battery than the Conair model.

The lengths range from .5 mm to 10 mm which is double the length of the I-stubble at almost .4 inches.  It is always nice to have the option of longer hair lengths even if you don’t think you will need it.

At this price, the 3500 trimmer should be a solid product, there is only one comb you have to worry about and you won’t even have to take that off unless you want to use the trimmer to clean your edges up.

The short charge time will hopefully help keep your battery lasting longer by not over charging the device.

There is one common complaint however as nothing is ever perfect.

Some guys said that at lower length settings the trimmer can cut unevenly if you are not careful to apply even pressure when trimming.

So, if you like keeping shorter stubble you may look for another option.

[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 9100″ style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

If you really want to splurge the Norelco 9100 is quite a work of art. Not only does it look nice but it is a well-built machine.

The main feature that separates this trimmer from the others is a built-in laser so you trim the edges of your beard with ultimate precision.

It comes with 2 combs one for trimming your beard and one for detail, it also has a smaller detail trimmer on the back of the head.

The trimmer has a nice range of length from .4 mm to 7 mm and while it has a manual adjustment it will give you a digital read out of the length you have chosen.

As expected with the higher price tag comes a better battery offering one hour of run time with a one hour charge.

If you are trimming a lot of length off the hair can accumulate in the trimmer so you will have to frequently empty it or brush it off. However, many guys love this trimmer.

On the downside, it seems like some guys got bad products like other razors and a few mentioned that the laser doesn’t quite do what it is supposed to.

Others seem to have had high expectations from the price tag and were let down.

[su_box title=”TRYM II – The Rechargeable Modern Hair Clipper Kit” style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

The TRYM II beard trimmer is a very modern, sleek looking trimmer that is popular on Amazon for a decent price.

It comes with 4 different blade guards, a cleaning brush and oil to keep the blade functioning correctly.

It only has 4 different lengths:

  • 1.5 mm
  • 3 mm
  • 6mm
  • 9mm

To be honest that is probably all you need. Most guys tend to only use a couple different settings.  So while the other trimmers that have 15-20 are nice, you probably won’t use most of them.

It does come with a one year warranty which is nice as many guys mentioned battery troubles again just like the rest of the trimmers on this list.

It seems as though these manufacturers are on to something with using batteries that only last a year…

The TTYM II offers great value at this price point and there are some reviewers who have been using this for multiple years.

If the batteries are left on the charger longer than needed it can shorten the life of the battery.  So maybe they should make that clearer in the owner’s manual.

The excellent customer service is also brought up several times in the Amazon reviews.

[/su_box]

[su_box title=”Remington MB4040″ style=”default” box_color=”#2aff00″ title_color=”##000000″ radius=”6″ class=””]

Last but not least we have another Remington, the MB4040.

This beard trimmer offers a lot of bang for your buck. With a long battery runtime at 120 minutes in a three-hour charge.  It also comes with 3 blade attachments for a total of 9 different length settings all the way up to 18 MM and as low as 1.5 mm.

The three blades have different teeth to perform different functions so it should handle different types of hair well.

The motor is powerful yet not as loud as others and will cut right through our stubble or beard hair.

Since this battery holds a charge for so long many guys mention how infrequently they charge it, one guy even said once in six months.

This should help it last longer since you don’t have to charge frequently.

There are several reviews that mention owning the trimmer for 2-3 years on just a few charges.

Of course, there are several complaints that mention the battery. You can’t help but wonder if these guys are just plugging in the trimmer and leaving it on the charger for days at a time?

[/su_box]

Conclusion

As you can see, these are some of the most popular beard stubble trimmers on Amazon.

They don’t all have the same features. There is a nice variety of trimmers where you should be able to find one you like.

Just remember with any of them to follow the instructions on charging the battery.  As battery life seems to be the biggest complaint with all of them.
