What Is The Top Electric Shaver Out Of These 10?
So out of these top 10 electric shavers which one is the best? Hands down it has to be the Braun Series 7 799c.
We will get into the details in a minute but this shaver boasts a 4.9/5-star rating on Amazon which is hard to beat.
The first thing you will notice is that the shaver is built for performing, however, you will pay for it as this is not the cheapest electric shaver out there.
You are paying for features that will help give you the best shave possible.
Features like the intelligent sonic technology which vibrates that razor at over 10,000 times per minute. This helps lift the hairs up into the foil cutting even the most thick, stubborn stubble. This helps increase the efficiency at which the shaver cuts your beard
It also has three different speeds to choose from when shaving your beard. Therefore, it is even one of the best electric shavers if you have sensitive skin.
On those areas where you are prone to irritation you can turn it down to the extra sensitive mode to help save your skin.
Or if you have thick stubble crank it up to turbo mode so you can plow through your beard in no time.
The activelift and optifoil are two more features designed to help the head on this shaver get as close as possible to your skin by pulling the hairs up from your skin. It is also designed to swivel and flex so you can easily get all the areas around your chin and jawline.
Is it worth the extra money vs. the Braun Series 7 790cc-4 electric foil shaver?
Yes absolutely. There is only one reason why. They added wet & dry technology on this 799cc-6 which is the latest version in this series.
However, as you can see, the 790-4 has sold many more times on Amazon and is one of the most popular razors but we feel the wet & dry feature is a must have.
Shaving wet with your electric razor is so much more comfortable and you can even make it part of your daily shower. Or you have the option of using your favorite shaving cream or soap.
Just having the option and knowing you can do this is nice. Even if you don’t think you will need it you never know when you will change your mind.
Who Makes The Best Top 10 Electric Shavers?
Braun has been around since 1921 so you know they have the experience to bring you the best electric shaver.
They were acquired by Gillette in 1967 but started in Germany and is now owned by Proctor & Gamble. Max Braun, the founder, started off engineering components for radio sets and building entire radio sets. However, in the 1950’s is when they began producing electric shavers which is what they are most known for today.
The S 50 was the first model which was created in 1938! However, because of WWII production did not start until the 1950’s.
They continue to produce many different consumer appliances but are most famously known for making some of the best electric shavers around.
Where To Buy Any Of The Top 10 Electric Shavers For Men?
The safest and usually the cheapest place to buy products online is Amazon. They have made shopping so easy and they are very fast with shipping. You will almost always receive your order before the estimated arrival date.
Even if you decide not to go with the 799cc-6 from Braun (which we think is the best electric razor on the market) there are hundreds of other razors at your fingertips on Amazon. Plus, you can read what other buyers have said about the products.
Plus, Amazon is an all-around great company for the communities they are involved with. They do things like:
- Make books available worldwide
- Teach girls to write computer code
- Donate to local non-profits
- Literary Partnership
It is easy to see why they are one of the best places to shop when you are looking for great products like an electric shaver.
When to replace the head on your top electric shaver for men?
Braun recommends to change these out every 18 months but you will most likely be able to stretch this to closer to 24 months.
The shaver Series 7 even has an LED indicator that will light up when they are ready to be changed.
This is most likely done by run time so if you don’t shave as much as you thought you would it won’t light up until it is ready.
You can even find the replacement foils on Amazon as well. They are the 70S Cassette’s manufactured by Braun as well.
Since this will most likely be the last razor you purchase for 10 years or so you will need to replace the head every couple year to continue to get the best performance from your shaver.
Other Top 10 Electric Shavers To Consider
Obviously, the Braun Series 7 is consider the best of the top 10 electric shavers but there are still 9 other shavers on our list all for their own reason.
Check out the additional reviews below if you don’t feel like spending the money for the very best.
Panasonic ES-LT33-S Arc3 Electric Razor
The Panasonic ES LT33 Arc 3 made our top 10 electric shavers list because it is just a solid razor for less than $100.
Of course you won’t have so many features as the more expensive models but you still can get a great shave with this razor.
It still has a powerful motor that cuts at 13,000 CPM and holds its power all the way to the end of the charge.
This is kind of a double edged sword, it does have a battery indicator so you should know when it needs a charge but if you aren’t paying attention it will just die on you.
It doesn’t have a ton of reviews but there are only two negative ones.
Guys seem to love the closeness of this shave and the long lasting battery. Also, even though it has a powerful motor it is not the loudest model out there.
This razor is also capable of wet and dry shaving which you don’t always find at this price point. That means you can shave with a cream or soap as well as keep it clean by washing the heads under water.
Overall, this is going to get the job done and not cost you a ton of money.
Top Panasonic Electric Shaver – Panasonic ES-LV95-S Arc5 Electric Razor
If you want to take it up a few steps from the Arc3 you will love this top Panasonic electric shaver, the Arc 5 model. You are definitely paying for all the bells and whistles on this model.
To start it comes with it’s own cleaning and charging station. This is great as you can dock it on the station, push a button and forget about it.
Of course, you probably won’t need to clean it everyday but it is still nice to know you can!
This will have a huge bump in performance as well with a faster moter and 2 additional blades giving you 70,000 cutting actions per minute. This will be good if you have sensitive skin as less strokes will be required to give you the shave you want.
Of course there are several guys who compare this to the Braun and they tend to go both ways. However, this is a highly rated shaver with not many negative reviews.
The ones that are there are people disappointed in the performance vs. the price or it simply didn’t work well on their beard.
Top Mid-level Electric Shaver – Braun Series 5 5090cc
If you just can’t bring yourself to buy the Series 7, Braun’s Series 5 5090CC is another top 10 electric shavers that costs about half as much but you won’t lose half of the features or performance.
It still comes with a clean and charge station as well as the FlexMotionTec and UltraActiveLift technologies that will help you get an efficient shave.
It has a super comfortable grip without being too bulky.
Some guys who compare it to the Series 7 say it actually gives just as close a shave just with less features like the ability to change the speed.
If you like using the cleaning station remember to shake out any excess hairs before inserting your razor. This will help the station last longer over the years.
Most of the complaints about his razor are from guys who just didn’t like it or had too high of expectations for an electric shaver, like expecting a shave as close as a razor blade.
One thing that might not be obvious is that this shaver is water resistant not water proof. So while you can wash it in the sink you cannot take it in the shower.
Panasonic ES8243A Arc4 Electric Razor
Panasonic’s Arc 4 is another popular electric shaver with over 2,200 reviews and a 4.4-star rating.
It is pretty much the same price as the LT33 but you get an extra blade on the flexible head! Combine this with the same powerful motor for an extra 13,000 cuts per minute.
The display on this model is just a tad nicer as well but overall they are very similar. With all things considered if you like the idea of having an extra blade in the head that is the main difference.
One downfall of the less expensive models is that they may not last the 10 plus years as high end razors. There are some reports of this shaver failing after 3-4 years.
Even if you get four years however, that is only about $25 per year to shave, not a bad deal!
There are also some other reports of the display failing before that. This isn’t the biggest problem in the world as long as you remember to charge it at least once a week then you should be fine.
Again, this is just another solid top electric razor without all of the bells and whistles.
Top Electric Shaver For $100 – Panasonic ES-LT41-K Arc3
This version of Panasonic’s Arc 3 is just a little more than the LT33 but you will feel the increased build quality when you hold it.
It is definitely one of the top 10 electric shavers for just a little over $100.
It has an upgrade display on the front with an advanced Multi-Fit Arc 3 foil on top designed to give you a smooth, comfortable shave.
Each blade is on its own suspension so it really hugs your face as you move it over the contours around your jawline.
This version also comes with a travel pouch and a protective cap for the head which will not only protect your blades but also keep your wife happy by preventing hairs from falling out when not in use.
Most of the complaints are guys who just simply couldn’t get this razor to work with their beard skin type. While most men love this razor, every beard is different so you cannot please everyone.
For the average guy, it may take a few strokes but you should be able to get a close shave that will give you the appearance of smooth, just understand it will not be as close as a blade.
Philips Norelco Shaver 6100
If you are a rotary shaver type of guy you might really like this Shaver 6100 from Norelco.
Just beware, you may get a box with the old name on it, SensoTouch 2D 1150X/46, if you do don’t freak out, it is the same product.
The gyroflex 2D system on this rotary shave really lets this razor get close on the contours of your face. In general, guys with rounder faces tend to prefer rotary shavers vs. those with angular faces.
This really help reduce the amount of pressure needed to cut your beard as well as the number of strokes. Both of these advantages should lead to reduced irritation.
One thing that they could improve is including the trimmer as part of the razor instead of as an additional attachment.
It has typical complaints from guys who it just did not agree with or about Philips customer service. There was not any common complaints that stood out.
For the price point though, you should see great value from this razor, being a wet and dry shave you will enjoy the most comfort when using some sort of pre-shave product.
Braun Series 9 9090cc
This bad boy is definitely one of the most expensive razors on the top 10 electric shavers list but we couldn’t quite call it the top razor because you won’t see as much value as the Series 7.
However, if you have the money to spend and want all of the features you can get on an electric razor, this would be the one for you.
It has Braun’s patented Intelligent SyncroSonic technology that when combined with all of the other cutting elements in the head is designed to give you one of the most efficient shaves out there.
It also has two extra trimmers in the head that the Series 7 does not have.
The Series 9 is slightly larger than the Series 7 but it shouldn’t be as loud. The grip is a little leaner so even though it is bigger it shouldn’t feel bulkier.
Some guys have done side by side comparison with the Series 7 and some found this razor to be more efficient requiring less strokes to complete your shave.
Of course, there a few complaints because with a higher price tag comes higher expectations. The most common one though is that it is not much better than the older models which is why you might not see as much value as the Series 7 with this one.
Philips Norelco Electric Shaver 5500
The Philips Shaver 5500 is another top 10 electric shavers for just under $100.
It is not quite as highly rated as the Shaver 6100 but it will definitely get the job done.
You may want to spend the extra $10 or on this one if you have a thicker beard. They gave this model a 10% power boost and the blades are designed to lift your hairs then cut them.
As an added bonus over the Shaver 6100 you also get a clean and charge station to keep your razor feeling fresh.
Some say the turbo mode needs to always be turned on as the regular speed setting isn’t fast enough. However, if you have sensitive skin this option may be a good thing.
Most of the complaints are from men who just didn’t like this shaver with their beard type. Or some of them had too high of expectations.
Electric shavers tend to have a difficult time lifting softer hairs into the blades. Many men just clean up these spots with a light touch from a blade.
Top Electric Razor For Sensitive Skin – Philips Norelco Shaver 7300
Last but not least is the Shaver 7300 from Philips which is one of the top 10 electric shavers for those of you with sensitive skin.
It is similarly priced to the Braun Series 5 but will offer a comfortable shave.
It has special micro-beads on the head to allow the razor to slide easily over your skin. The added power also helps you shave with less strokes further reducing irritation.
Many say this electric shaver will give you a close shave but may miss a few hairs which is typical for most shavers anyway.
A small price to pay for a more relaxing and less irritating shave.
One other small complaint is that the cleaning stand can be a little noisy, so just make sure you run it while you are at work or out of the house.
Overall though this is another quality razor.
Conclusion: Top 10 Electric Shavers
As you can see there are many reasons why we think the Braun Series 7 799cc-6 is the top electric shaver on the market in 2017. However, if even you don’t want to fork up the money for this high performing razor there are many other options on this top 10 electric shavers list for all price ranges listed in the buyers guide above.
We really want to put only the best electric shaver in our comparison guide, if you feel like there are some that are missing please let us know. The technology has come along way in these shavers that with any of them you will most likely get many years of use.
Which one is best for you though will depend on your specific needs and beard type.

Awesome article. I am in the market for a new electric shaver. This review is pretty in depth and i love a few of them you reviewed. They are all so expensive though and this the part that has me thinking to make sure i buy the right one for the money. Once I decide I will be back to buy online. Great post
Jeremysays
Hi Robert,
If you are on a budget you might enjoy another article I wrote about electric shavers under $100. These can all provide a decent shave and they won’t break your bank account!

Really nice! I have been looking for a good review like this! Braun series 7 looks amazing, can’t wait to have enough money to actually afford one like that! I have always loved products from braun, they have a nice design and have very good quality. Maybe i will wish for one to my birthday. 😉
Jeremysays
Hi Anders,
Yes these electric shavers would make great birthday gift! If you are currently using disposable blades and replacing them every week like recommended, these electric shavers could pay for themsleves pretty quickly with the savings you will see of not having to buy new cartridges every month.

Wow, what a fluctuation in prices between the different brands. I have always thought of Braun when I think of an electric razor. It’s funny, that I do have one that I use on my dogs. I know, but it works and I have two that have to have their hair cut. So I save a lot by doing it myself. But this helps me find one for my dad. His broke when he was here visiting me. The one you recommended looks like the best one to me as well.
Jeremysays
Glad to know that electric shavers work on all kinds of hair! Let me know which one you decide on for your dad and how he likes it!
Riaz Shahsays
Hey there Jeremy,
If an electric shaving company was bought by a razor blade shaver company, you just know how good they are. I’ve been using Braun shavers for 5 years now and I’ve never been disappointed once.
But one question though, both electric shaver and blade shaver work just as good and smooth, why do some people prefer one over the other though? Because i actually use both.
Jeremysays
Hi Riaz,
Great questions, I actually use both as well sometimes. Many people love the electric shavers for the convenience of being able to dry shave or being able to shave while driving to work. Or sometimes the blades can cut too close and cause irritation.
On the other side some people prefer the closeness of the blade, which is a little closer but to many it is not a significant difference to have a preference.

Hello,
thank you for publishing article about the best electric shaver in 2017. Obviously, it looks like Braun Series 7 799cc-6 is the best electric shaver on the market and I agree. The price is affordable and I will definitely consider to get one for me. Thanks for sharing
Have a nice day
Karlo
Jeremysays
You’re welcome Karlo, yes the Series 7 799cc-6 is our favorite. It is more expensive up front but considering you should get at least 10 years out of it with proper care it really isn’t that expensive like you said. Let me know which one you decide on!
Leosays
Hi there , glad I had a chance to look at your content on Best Men’s Shaver. I am so tired of buying them throw aways. Just the other day I purchased one that opens on top and takes the whole blade, remember back when.
I like the design of the 799cc-6 electric foil. Braun to me always was a good name brand . This one has many good features that I like. But the wet and dry shavers could come in handy as well.
Nice read , keep up the good work.
Jeremysays
Thanks Leo I’m glad you found this post useful. There are many great electric razors out there as you can see. The 799cc-6 is definitely hard to beat however Braun produces many other quality shavers withotu all of the bells and whisltes for less money.
Tarsays
Hello Jeremy,
I consider the Panasonic LT-33-S Foil a bargain because of the price. Yes, arguably, there is not much it offers compared to Braun series 7. Related with other shaves, I think it’s the next best bet. It is doable to have a quick shave with a considerable capacity motor. Talk about necessity, I think the LT-33 covers every ground needs for consumer.
Jeremysays
You are absolutely right Tar, the LT-33 is a great deal but the LT41 is usually just $1 more with power and a better cleaning feature. Most people tend to choose the latter.
However, the Braun Series 7 does offer many benefits but they are not all necessary for a decent shave.
Thevinsays
I like how well written and informative your article is. Was looking for some good shaver for myself online and I found your website. I love how you have rated and reviewed the top 10 electric shaver’s. I would consider buying Series 5 Electric Foil Shaver soon. Thank You for your help.
Jeremysays
Great choice Thevin, the series 5 is a solid razor that is moderately priced. It should provide you with quality shaves for 10 years or more. It is just one of many top electric shavers on the market right now.
Karlosays
Hello,

Very good article. I enjoyed how you laid out all of the options and gave all the details I was looking for in one convenient place. I currently have the braun series 7 790cc-4, but I have been looking to upgrade to a shaver that can do a wet shave. Thanks to your review I think I will upgrade to the series 7 799cc-6. Thanks so much for the info!
Jeremysays
I’m glad you enjoyed the post John, how long have you owned the 790cc-4? I’m wondering how long you have used it before you decided you want to upgrade.
Johnsays
I have had it since may 2016. Its not that I don’t like it, I just think my skin does way better with a wet shave.
Jeremysays
I agree being able to shave in the shower or with a shaving cream or soap is much more comfortable.
Glensays
This is a great review of the top 10 electric shavers. I actually spent more time on this page than I have for so many others. You provided a valuable tip for people buying shavers. Buy replacement foils. Or replacement heads if you have a different shaver. My old Norelco is basically worthless now because Norelco does not make replacement heads anymore. And the replacement heads made by another company are not very good. I don’t know what Braun, the top rated shaver, track record is for continuing production of replacement parts. But if you are going to keep your shaver 10 years, buy extra parts. Just in case.
Jeremysays
That is an excellent point Glen to grab a few extra parts for your shaver if it is an older model. That is a bummer that Norelco stopped making parts for yours, I guess it is their way of forcing you to upgrade!
Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed the post, let me know if you decide to make a purchase!
Lee Santossays
So, being a guy with a beard that grows in a matter of days… I appreciate this article haha. If I had the money to shell out I’d definitely try out the Braun. Although I have to say one shaver I’ve had a good experience with so far is the Norelco Oneblade. It gets pretty darn close to an actual razor in terms of closeness. And it’s very precise. The only thing is, I shave my head, and this isn’t something I can use to do that effectively. Do you think the Braun would handle that better?
Jeremysays
Any of these razors should be able to shave your head but like you said they might not be the most efficient. There are a few head specific razors on the market out there that I wrote about recently in this article.
mariamsays
Well Jeremy, what a good review. So informative about the Best Electric Shaver research thank you. Such a heavy work.
Reading your review makes the Braun Series 7 799cc-6 the best electric shaver on the market in this 2017.
Among the other shavers, which one do you recommend in case one can not raise the money for the Braun Series 7?
Thank you.
Jeremysays
If you are wanting one less than $100 I would go with the Arc 3 LT41 or if you are looking for something in between the Braun Series 5 5090CC is another great option.
Hope that helps!
James Harveysays
This is just what I’ve been looking for since this year started. I like the fact that are wireless and seems to work a lot better than traditional razors. Makes me even more intrigued and wanting to purchase at least two. Do you have any suggestions?
I’ve only used traditional razors in the past. This will be my first time with an electric shaver.
Jeremysays
Hi James, if this is your first time with an electric razor you may want to start with one that is moderately priced. Just be sure you have the right expectations, the electric shavers will not get as close as a safety razor but it will get close and works well for most unless you have a really fast growing beard.
The Panasonic Arc 3 might be a good choice for you.
Kippssays

Interesting point about replacing the head of the shaver! I never even thought of that because the shavers I buy usually never last longer than 6 months.
Braun has always been a fantastic brand in my opinions. Like you say, it is worth paying the extra money.
Next time I will buy a more expensive one so I can use it long enough to change the head!
Jeremysays
Hey Philip,
YEs if you take care of any of these electric shavers you should easily get 10 years out of them. Replacing the heads will bring back their effectiveness to 100%.
Unless you drop or break it these will give you quality shaves for many years.

Today we have a lot of product in a market to choose a single product is very difficult.Braun series is one the best electric shaver. this gave a very smooth and close shave in a very affordable price. the first thing we will notice is that the shaver is built for close and smooth performing.
Jeremysays
Awesome, thanks for the input!
