Summary

This is my hands-on review of the Philips OneBlade hybrid trimmer/shaver. You might be pleasantly surprised by the power you get for the price you pay.

Product: Philips OneBlade Review

Rating: 4.2/5 stars with over 1,500 reviews

Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon

I recently got my hands on Philips OneBlade and I was super excited to try it out.

My wife likes me to keep a goatee most of the time (lucky me) and my hair doesn’t grow real fast so I usually trim it every two weeks while shaving the rest of my face every other day.

As you can imagine I was excited to see what this hybrid trimmer/shaver was capable of.

In my Review, I will give you all the details!

Who Makes The OneBlade?

Philips is a trusted manufacturer with hundreds of different shavers on the market.  The company itself has been around since 1891 but didn’t start making electric shavers until about 1940.

These days you can see many of their products anywhere you look.

What Is The Philips OneBlade Shaver All About?

When Philips introduced the OneBlade shaver they wanted to introduce a new way to trim, edge and shave your hair.

They did just that.

The blade is double edged so you can move it any both directions which will help you get an efficient shave.

I currently trim my beard with some hair clippers however, using these on my mustache area is difficult because of how long the blade guard is.

With the OneBlade combs I was able to quickly plow right through that area.

In fact, it handled the entire goatee area I wanted to trim like a champ. I have seen some people say it does not handle longer hair well but I did not have this issue.

Maybe they have thicker hair than me.

It also handled my sideburns and neck areas much more efficiently than one of my other electric shavers. It did not get as close but I did not have to use multiple passes to get any missed hairs.

I found that the blade easily rotated on its head to stick to the contours of my face. This is why it didn’t take as many strokes, I was able to cut more hair with each pass.

I think this is also why it did not leave as much redness on my neck as my other shaver.

Now, even though it did not get as close as my other shaver, it still gave me the look of a clean shave.

For this reason, I think this would be a great shaver for those of you with sensitive skin so your hairs won’t get a chance to curl back into the skin causing razor bumps.

Trimming

I normally edge my goatee with a different razor but since the OneBlade gives the appearance of a close shave I didn’t have to do that either.

For someone like myself who has different styles of hair on your face this is really a nifty tool to shave down some areas and trim your beard in others.

The blade was easy to click in and out so changing them should be no issue. Each blade is supposed to last four months if you complete two full shaves each week.

So, depending on use this may save you money or cost you more money than your current solution.

It does have a re-chargeable battery that is supposed to last 45 minutes. However, there is a little drawback here as it takes 8 hours to full re-charge it.

However, this isn’t a huge deal as long as you remember to charge it at least once a week.

In the box, you will get:

  • The OneBlade shaver
  • One Replacement Blade
  • Power Cord
  • 3 Trimming combs

The replacement blades come in packs of two for around $25. So, if you follow their recommendation you will spend about $36 a year which is a little more than using a safety razor but not as expensive as a multi-blade cartridge razor.

Where To Buy Philips OneBlade?

Amazon is usually a great place to shop for electronics online like the OneBlade razor. You get to compare lots of products easily and see many customer reviews.

The OneBlade just happens to have over 1,500 reviews with a 4.2-star rating so you can see it is a fairly popular product.

While every guys beard and skin are different, you can usually find some reviews that you can relate to you that give you helpful information.

Conclusion

Overall I was pleasantly surprised at how well the OneBlade shaver performed for only being a little over $30.

I was able to shave down the parts that I wanted to fast than normal as well as get a better trim than using regular hair clippers.

So, I think if you have sensitive skin or like to keep multiple hair styles this could be a great tool for your vanity.

If you need a BBS shave than this will not be for you and you may want to get a double edge safety razor.
