The three piece comb is great if you are not a fan of the butterfly openings which can have a little ‘play’ when setting the blade. However, the blades should line up perfectly in this comb.
This is not the heaviest razor out there but sure has a nice weight if you like razors that feel sturdy in your grip and well made. The four-inch-long handle also has a typical but nice texture to it to prevent slipping during your shave.
This head also has a moderate level of aggressiveness. So, for the average guy this should work well with your beard.
As noted in the title of the razor, the 24C is a three-piece open comb style double edged razor. Their butterfly heads are straight bars which has more metal that touches your skin as you shave.
One is not necessarily better than the other, it is merely a matter of preference. Open combs allow more hair into the comb so they are typically better for men who have:
Since the comb allows more hair through, you may have to do less passes if you have a tough beard. Some guys also say that since there is less metal dragging on your skin, it provides a smoother shave and the razor does not skip around as much.
This is a great beginner razor if you are new to wet shaving but the veterans love it as well. You can see in the reviews some guys who have been shaving for decades say this is one of the best razors they have owned. Simply lather up your favorite shaving cream with a decent shaving brush and put this baby to work!
However, if this is your first safety razor just be careful. Open combs tend to be slightly more aggressive than straight bars. Just be sure to go slow and use short strokes.
These two razors are similar in some ways but different in others. The Parker is a longer razor than the 34C which is only three inches. However, the shorter handle might offer you more control.
The Parker is also slightly heavier than the Merkur but not by much. You might not notice much of a difference in the weight and it is probably just due to the extra length in the handle.
One of the bigger differences is that the Merkur is a straight bar comb vs. the 24C’s open comb. Like we mentioned earlier this a purely a preference matter. You will find some men prefer one over the other and the other way around.
The 34C is slightly less aggressive than the Parker as well so if you like a more aggressive shave you will probably want to stick with the Parker.

This razor doesn’t have many negative reviews and the ones that are there are just people who are not used to wet shaving and the other main complaint is that it is too aggressive for those with sensitive skin.
The Parker 24C is nice change in the lineup of their usual butterfly straight bar razors. It offers a nice weight and handle length that will give you decent control with your shave.
This might be your go to razor if you have a thicker beard or if you prefer a more aggressive shave. Either way, Parker is a well-known brand that stands behind their products.
