Having trouble growing a beard? The best beard growth oil may help but probably not in the way you would expect.
Growing a manly beard is not something that everyone can do and while some guys like growing rugged beards, others prefer to stay clean-shaven. However, there are also some guys who wish they could grow beard and just don’t have the full face of hair like others.
In this review, we are going to talk a little bit about what growth oil is, how it can help your beard and recommend a few of the top products on the market.
What Is It?
Beard growth oil is simply beard oil. However, some companies have decided to market it as a product that encourages beard growth.
However, you will find that most of the oils have pretty much the same ingredients as a standard beard oil.
Beard oil is used to condition your beard keeping it soft and shiny just like a natural oil would that is produced by your skin as well as moisturizing the skin underneath your beard to help prevent beard itch.
Some of the common oils that you will find in beard oil include:
- Jojoba oil
- Argan oil
- Coconut oil
- Grapeseed oil
- Hemp seed oil
You can read more about the benefits of these individual oils in my other article here. Many beard oils will also be fortified with added nutrients and vitamins like vitamin E.
Some beard oils are scented and they are usually done so with essential oils from different types of plants. This lets the manufacturers scent the oil without using fake chemicals.
Using a beard oil has many benefits:
- The most obvious benefit is that it acts as a moisturizer. As it works down to the hair follicle, it helps prevent the hair from growing brittle. This is very handy if you are in tough environments like cold or windy as this can dry out your beard.
- The moisturizer also helps prevent dandruff from dry skin or flakiness.
- Beard oil also helps your beard become more manageable by smoothing it out and improves the look by giving a little shine.
Does The Oil Actually Help My Beard Grow?
Beard growth oil will help your beard grow but probably won’t help your beard grow faster.
Basically, it helps your beard hair stay healthy so that you don’t lose as many hairs or break as many hairs. It should also help prevent split ends so you won’t have to trim your beard as often.
It really just helps your beard grow optimally by keeping it healthy. They will not speed up the growth process and probably won’t fill in any patchy areas either that you don’t already have hair.
So, if you are looking to buy some oil make sure you have the right expectations. It is simply another oil that’s going to help keep your beard looking and feeling healthy which will allow it to grow its best.
How To Use It
Applying your oil is just the same as any other oil or beard butter or balm.
You can use your hands, by simply adding a few drops of your oil and then working it into your beard. Be sure to massage it all the way down to the hair follicles to get the best results.
Depending on how long your beard is you may need a second round of application. Start with three to five drops, and add more as needed.
Another method is to use a brush or comb. Simply add the oil to the brush and work it through your beard. You may need to brush each area several times to make sure the oil is spread evenly.
Most beard oils come with an eyedropper so you are not wasting any oil and you can get the exact amount that you need.
How Often Can You Apply The Oil
It is recommended to apply the oil on a daily basis. Especially if you are in a tough climate.
Most men like to apply the oil after they get out of the shower because the pores have opened up and will absorb more oil into the skin.
However, make sure your beard is somewhat dry. It can be a little damp but if it is too wet, the oil will not absorb into the beard or skin.
If you have very dry skin you may be even able to apply it twice a day.
Over the last couple years beards have become more and more accepted in the workplace so guys have been using a variety of products to maintain their beard and keep it looking healthy.
Your beard hair will appreciate the love and so will your lady.
Beard Oil By Inglorious Fuzz
This beard oil by Inglorious Fuzz could be a great product to keep your beard looking healthy. It is made of 100% organic ingredients as well.
The oil is also fragrance-free which will be great for those of you who have sensitive skin. It won’t clash with any of your other scented products if you wear cologne.
This is a lightweight oil which not leave you feeling greasy. It will also condition and moisturize your skin preventing itchiness or any flakiness.
- Golden Jojoba Oil
- Moroccan Argan Oil
- Vitamin E
- Aloe Vera
- Chamomile Oil
As you can see it is a pretty simple formula with these few wholesome ingredients. These oils and vitamins are rich in fatty acids that will keep your beard looking healthy and strong allowing it to grow into its full potential.
You’ll see many happy customers in the reviews with its 4.1 star rating. There are several guys who even claimed that it helped fill in some patchy areas on their beard.
There are only a few complaints and it seems to be from guys who had too high of expectations from this product. This is not fertilizer for your beard.
Overall this is a great natural product that will help keep your beard healthy.
Beard Growther is another popular oil on Amazon but does not have as high of rating at only 3.1 Stars. Probably because of the way beard farmer markets this oil as specifically promoting growth so, guys probably have high expectations.
It is about twice as much as Inglorious Fuzz but is also about twice the amount so it is pretty close to the same price per ounce.
This has few of the same ingredients but many that are not the same. Its main ingredient is olive oil followed by Aloe Vera, avocado oil, and castor oil.
It also has many essential oils to scent their product including flowers of sulfur, thyme, geranium, Cypress, Sage, grapefruit, peppermint, Rosemary, Cedarwood and lavender.
As you can see, there are some pretty strong scents on that list so if you have a sensitive nose this probably isn’t the oil for you.
As you can imagine most of the complaints either talk about the smell or that this product doesn’t do what they think it was supposed to do which is make their hair grow like crazy.
However, the guys that enjoyed it like how soft it made their beard feel as well as their skin. Some even said that it helped fill in some patchy areas as well.
Beard Flux XL
This oil by Beard Flux XL is one of the highest rated beard oils you can find on Amazon however, it comes with a price tag.
It has a 4.8 star rating with over 600 reviews comma while perfection is impossible, this one is pretty close.
The reason it is more expensive is because it is just 100% cold pressed argan oil. That’s it just one ingredient.
Many times less is more and with this product that is definitely the situation.
As you can see in the reviews several guys use this product to create fuller beards, softer beards and eliminate any itchiness that comes along with their beards.
This oil is advertised as fragrance-free which is great if you have sensitive skin however, that just means it does not have any added essential oils.
It will still smell like Argan Oil which you may or may not like, but it should be pretty mild.
Most of the complaints on this one are people who would just not happy with the product because of the price they paid. It is more expensive than most of the others but you usually get what you pay for.
If you made it this far hopefully you now have a better idea of what to expect and what to look for in a beard growth oil.
As you can see, some growth oils are marketed for beard growth and other oils are simply for the health of your beard. However, with many similar ingredients they will all do the same thing which is help grow your beard into its full potential by keeping it healthy.
There are certainly many more beard oils out there these are just a few of the top selling products on Amazon.
No matter which one you decide to get, treating your beard with some product is better than not treating it with anything.
