If you are looking for an excellent daily razor you may not need to look past our Merkur Futur review. Merkur has taken the quality craftsmanship they used in their other models like the 34C and made them even better.
With this Futur you are not stuck with one angle or one level of aggressiveness with your razor. This safety razor has 6 different settings you can use (with half settings as well).
The Futur comes in a brushed satin finish that gives it a nice, modern look. It is just as easy to keep clean as any chrome finish as well.
It also has a nice weight at 4 oz. which will do most of the work for you when you shave. You shouldn’t have to apply much pressure at all when using this razor.
This Merkur Futur has 6 different settings on the razor that allow you to control the aggressiveness. 1 is the least and 6 is the most aggressive.
Just be sure you practice carefully if this is your first time using a DE safety razor. It appears that many newbies had trouble with nicks and cuts even on the lowest setting. If you have too steep an angle this will result in some nicks.
Another thing you can do to prevent cuts is to use a pre-shave oil and shave with the direction that your hair grows. The added lubrication will help make your shave much more comfortable.
You will find fans of both the Futur and the Merkur Progress and some that only like one over the other. This is purely a preference.
The differences between the two are minimal. The Futur has a larger head but the Progress has a longer handle.
Besides that, they are both adjustable, and they will both give you a great shave. The Futur has a wider range of adjustments.
