Need a close, smooth shave just like you would get at your local barbershop?
It may take you, a few tries to get your technique down. But straight razors like this one from Utopia give you a professional barber shave for cheap!

This straight edge razor is a chrome plated brass frame which is much like many of the safety razors out there.
Some are made from stainless steel, however this one being chrome plated will also help reduce corrosion.
The nice thing about these razors with the flip-able blade covers is that there is almost no maintenance.
With a fixed straight razor, you need to strop your blade for every shave. When it becomes dull you will need to sharpen it.
With this Utopia, Professional Barber edition, you can simply insert a fresh blade and dispose of the old one as it dulls.
It comes with a 100 pack of Derby single edge blades.
However, Derby are known to not be as sharp as others which some people don’t like.
Since every man’s beard is different you may decide to get a variety pack of blades so you can see what you really like with this razor.
Changing the blade on this Utopia Barber straight razor couldn’t be easier.
Simply flip open the locking clip and separate the two arms of the razor.
The blade should fit nicely on the two guide bars.
Put the blade on the straight razor and make sure it is aligned properly and simply close the arms and then secure the locking clip over both arms.
Boom!
You are done.
This literally takes seconds; however, you should take your time the first few changes until you get used to the process.
Most guys get anywhere from 3-5 shaves per blade with some getting as many as 7.
That is almost two years of shaving if you change the blade every week!

This could be a great straight razor for beginners or those looking to get into straight razors without having to make the investment of a fixed straight edge razor.
Those can be expensive plus you will need to by strops and honing or sharpening stone.
Of course, you can buy kits that come with all of this but do you really want to spend all that time maintaining your blade?
If you are switching from an electric razor or even a DE safety razor just remember the technique is different so, please do not rush!
They would also be good for anyone wanting to save money.
As mentioned, the replacement blades are cheap and even if you change them after every shave you get over 3 months of shavers for about $10!
This straight razor might also be good if you have sensitive skin or suffer from razor bumps.
Since it has only a single edge on it, it would be difficult to cut the hairs below skin level like multi-blade cartridges do.
Of course, if you made several passes you could still cause irritation.
But if you take the time to prep with a nice pre-shave oil and applying a nice shaving soap with a badger hair brush, it may provide a smoother shave than you are used to.
Of course, there are a few that may have gotten defective products or didn’t like the learning curve of switching to a straight edge razor.
However, a few people mentioned receiving the products with some machining marks, it is a $10 razor.
Some have also mentioned the guide bars are not aligned properly, however there were just a few of these so maybe there was bad production run at some point.
