The Braun Series 5 5090cc Electric Foil Shaver for Men might look pretty but rest assured it is built for men! This electric razor has many features that you will love, especially those of you with sensitive skin.
Did you know Braun boasts itself has the world’s number one foil shaver brand? They must have a bunch of sales to back that up! This particular razor is also the official shaver of the NFL. Obviously they paid for the sponsorship but still, to get all those players to use the razor is no small feat.
This foil electric shaver reduces skin irritation by improving efficiency and here is how they did it.
To start, the head on this thing is awesome, each of the outer blades have their own independent suspension. As you can see in the picture one blade can tilt to the left while the other can tilt to the right. This is great for all the contours of your face, maybe even performing like a rotary in this aspect. They call this the MicroMotion of their FlexMotionTec.
They are simple to change, simply pop off the old one and click your new one on. Done!
The MacroMotion allows the entire to head to pivot up to 40 degrees that will really help this shaver slide smoothly across your face. This keeps the blades in contact with your skin so you don’t have to go over spots so many times reducing your shave time and the friction between the blade and your skin.
You can also lock the head in 5 different angles. This is great for problem areas. When the head is allowed to swivel and flex it may not produce enough pressure to get into those areas, this is when you will want to use the locking feature.
Like other Braun models it comes with the UltraActiveLift and CrossHair blades. These help lift problem hairs in areas like the chin or neck and give you a close shave that lasts longer than other razors.
Of course, it is 100% waterproof so you can keep this clean without losing performance. You can also wet shave with a shaving cream if you wanted.
The only feature about this razor that might not be great for you if you have sensitive skin is the cleaning solution. It is alcohol based which as you know can cause irritation. So we would recommend to either not use the cleaning station or make sure your rinse the head off very thoroughly with fresh water after you clean it and before your next shave. This should help remove any remaining cleaning solution and help reduce irritation from it.
This also has a built in precision trimmer which is great for sideburns or mustaches. It is also nice that you don’t have to have a separate attachment and worry about losing it or breaking it when you travel like some other models.
Like most other electric shavers these days it has a powerful battery that gives you 45 minutes of shaving with just an hour charge. It is also adaptable to the voltage from 100-240V
Braun gave this razor a boost with 20% more power than previous generations which is another way they increased the efficiency to reduce irritation. The increase power means less strokes and less shaving time.

You may even find this razor to work equally as well if not better than the Series 9 models. It is not as big or loud and the series 5 might run smoother.
Because of the size and shape of the head, it may make it difficult to see what you are doing when using the precision trimmer. If you really need to do some precision work you may need to get you wife to help you.
At this price point, it may be worth considering the older Series 7 model (790CC) and spending a few more dollars to get a lot more of a razor.
