Once again Braun, self-pro-claimed world’s #1 foil shaver brand, does it again with this quality razor. The Braun Series 9 9090cc Electric Foil Shaver is definitely a step up from the 790cc or the 5090cc.
While it has many similar features it has a few upgraded features of its own that you won’t find on those models.
It includes the world’s first SyncroSonic which is the feature that brings ultimate comfort to your shave. Making this a great razor for those of you with skin irritation issues. The head has 4 different cutting blades providing 40,000 cross-cutting actions to help remover more hair with each stroke than some rotary shavers.
It also uses sonic vibrations and a direct cut trimmer to help lift those stubborn hairs or hairs that grow in different directions. This is another way Braun attempts to maximize efficiency so your sensitive skin won’t get agitated!
They have also included the hyperlift cut trimmer. This helps lift even more hairs from areas like your neck and chin.
They really amped up their game with this razor and made it one of the best razors. The overall improvements in efficiency should reduce the required shaving time. Therefore reducing the time the blades have to touch your skin. This lower friction will definitely result in a more comfortable shave.
Other Features
OK, so enough about those impressive blades in the head. The head itself is also fully flexible including both Braun’s Micro and MacroMotion features.
The MacroMotion allows the whole head to pivot. While the MicroMotion feature allows the individual blades to flex in independent suspension.
These to features combined allow for an effortless glide over your skin. Especially the contour areas like the neck, chin and jawline. This is another feature that helps reduce irritation by increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
It is also 100% waterproof even claiming to be able to submerge up to 5 meters deep in water. That is a first for the shavers we have reviewed so far! While you probably don’t need it to work in deep water, but at least you know it can withstand a shower or your favorite shaving gel!
The clean and charge station on this model is also pretty impressive. While it is alcohol based cleans, charges, lubricates, selects its own cleaning program and dries the shaver at the press of a button.
If after drying the razor you still have issues with the alcohol cleaning solution you can simple rinse the head under fresh water. This should remove most of that residue.
It also comes with a pop up precision trimmer which is very convenient. You can switch to trimming your mustache or side burn instantly without having to replace the head with a different attachment. This is our preference as you will find not every razor comes with this feature.

This shaver has over 500 reviews on Amazon with 82% of them being at least 4 stars! One guy even said it might be the least skin irritating shaver he has used.
While there is an inherent limitation with electric shavers on the closeness (compared to a safety razor), it can get to your skin because of the foils. Some reviews say they actually prefer the 7 Series over this 9 Series for closeness.
However, there are other reviews as well from people who upgraded from the 7 Series for the same reason.
Other have also mentioned the weight as being an issue compared to the other models saying it is big and clunky. It is also not able to be used while charging which could be a bummer if you are in a hurry.
It seems like many of the disappointed customers just had too high of expectations for this shaver. You may not notice the difference on the actual shave between this model and a $150 shaver, you may just notice the little extras with the LED and such.

Conclusion Braun Series 9 9090cc Review
Overall, the Braun Series 9 is a high quality razor. However, it may only be incrementally better than some of the Series 7 versions.
So, if you have the money and you want the absolute best, go for it. Otherwise you can find other Braun shavers for a lot less money that perform almost equally as well.
