Description of Panasonic ES-LV95-S Arc5 Men’s Electric Shaver
Panasonic ES LV95 S Review Update: The price of this shaver has dropped about $20 with the new year. For those of you Braun fans out there, don’t dismiss this razor. It’s 40% fast motor can provide a more comfortable shave compared to some other top shavers.
It has also been noted by some users that Braun’s Intelligent Sonic Technology creates a loud noise as it vibrates which can be annoying. Plus if you combine the increased speed with one extra blade vs. the Series 7, you can shave a little quicker. This also may result in less strokes to get a complete shave.
If you liked the Panasonic ES-LT41-K Arc3 Wet Dry Electric Razor Review but can spend a little more money on the Panasonic ES-LV95-S Arc5 you are going to love it!
It takes a few leaps and bounds in terms of performance over the Arc3. As the name implies Panasonic steps it up with 5 blades now in this model. Each one is honed to a smooth 30º giving you the closest cut possible. They are calling this their most advanced razor system to date!
They have plenty of reason to. This electric shaver is built for efficiency. The motor on this thing produces over 14,000 cuts per minute giving you 70,000 total cuts with the 5 blades total.
Talk about getting a quick shave. This one of the most efficient razors we have reviewed at Men’s Best Shaver! Compared to other razors with only 10,000 cuts per minute and not as many blades this razor is almost twice as fast at giving you your shave!
As an added bonus it has a sleek design that will fit perfectly in the grip of your hand! However, even if looks aren’t important this is still an awesome electric razor.
In addition to the 5 blades the head on this shaver flexes, pivots and glides smoothly across your face reducing irritation on your skin. This allows it to get super close (even for a foil electric shaver) to your face around your chin and jaw lines.
The main feature we love about this (besides the super-fast motor) is the flexible micro-foil patterns on the head. They are super thin allowing all the many types of hair in your beard to get a close trim. These Lift-Tech foils help lift hairs that lie flat or grow in opposite directions.
Did we mention this is a great razor?
They have also included a Finishing Foil that catches thick, stubborn hair giving you the closest shave possible.
The Active Shaving Sensor is the main feature that makes this electric razor great for those of you with sensitive skin. The sensor automatically adjust the power of the motor to the density of your beard!
How technology has come along these days!
So as your beard gets thicker the power is increased and it slows down where it is thinner so you don’t unnecessarily aggravate your skin. This is a very nice feature.
Of course it has your typical wet/dry usability so if you are in a hurry you can quickly shave without any cream or gel. Or if you are looking for added comfort feel free to take this bad boy in the shower with you!
Unlike the lower model, Arc3 this one comes with a premium charging station that comes with its own detergent that will keep your razor clean and ready to go.
The premium digital display will also let you know when it is time to charge or time to clean. With a full range up to 100% you will know exactly how much juice you have.
The razor also comes with a universal voltage charging cord which is great if you travel a lot.
This razor also comes with a pop up mustache trimmer which we love vs. some other models that have a separate attachment for this. This is useful since you don’t have to worry about packing or losing the attachment.

What are others saying?
We strongly encourage you to check out the reviews for yourself and not just our Panasonic ES LV95 S review. However, one customer did a side by side comparison with the Braun Series 7 and had both his wife and mother say the Panasonic side was smoother!
He also mentioned his five o’clock shadow took longer to come in vs. the Braun! So for even a few bucks less you might be able to get a closer, more efficient shaver!
The cleaning solution in this razor is water based instead of alcohol which could help reduce irritation. However, it still has plenty of anit-bacterial goodness inside of it so your shaver will stay clean.
There are also several other reviews comparing different models and choosing the Arc5 as the winner.

Great write-up!
I have a question:
You mention that the micro-foil head is a great feature – I have always had issues with these types of heads as they either miss the hair (super frustrating), or pull my shorter stubble out (which hurts and makes me grumpy).
I’ve been using a manual razor for nearly 4 years now due to these issues, and I found this happening with multiple types of electric razors. Have you ever found this to be an issue with the Arc5 razor?
Perhaps it’s time to make the switch and try out the Arc5. It could very well be the razor I’ve been waiting for!

Hey Nehpets,
Great question! How old were the electric shavers you were using? As you know technology gets better just about every 30 seconds lol.
One of the reason this may have happened is if the head needed to be replaced. The blades will naturally lose their edge overtime from wear and tear.
Or maybe you should try a rotary electric shaver, some men prefer this vs. a foil. The rotary’s are supposed to work better around the contours of your face if you have a strong jawline.
Either way, I doubt the Arc5 would pull you hair right out of the box. As for the shorter hair, there may be some areas where you need to make a second pass to get that last bit of stubborn hair.
Hope that helps!

I didn’t really think of age – the razor in question was definitely older than what is probably recommended.
I have tried a rotary shaver and I did find this one to be a little better (for me). It did exactly what you said – working better around the contours of my face.
I may have to get my hands on both a rotary shaver and an Arc5 to do some comparisons on myself. Luckily I’m growing it out so it’s no rush, but Summer approaches and I’ll need to take it down again.
Thanks!

This looks like an amazing razor, I’m looking for a gift for my boyfriend at the moment and this looks like something he would love. What intrigues me most is the Finishing Foil that catches thick, stubborn hairs. My boyfriend has very thick curly hair that even the barbers sometimes find difficult to manage, this might just be the solution.
Thanks for sharing
Jeremysays
Hey, you’re welcome! With the your boyfriend has, does he get razor burn often when he shaves too close? I actually wrote another post about my top 3 picks for men with thick stubble.
Anyway, yes the finishing foil should help your boyfriend out. Especially if he shaves down first with the pop up trimmer.
Let me know how he likes if you decide to make a purchase!

I appreciate your review. I always wanted to purchase a electric razor as a gift, but my husband just doesn’t like them. I never knew which ones were good and really didn’t want to pay enough I guess.
I realize that to get a really good one you have to pay for it. I have not tried buying one as good as this one for him.
Jeremysays
You get what you pay for Cynthia! This is a really nice electric shaver with many features. However, there are others in the $100-200 price range that will still produce a quality shave and you may even find one that he likes that is under $100.

Awesome post! Recently I was complaining to a friend about how much I prefer using female shaving products over men’s because I hated the irritation my skin had and the tugging on my hair when I shave… This is something I will definitely look into! Thanks for the great post!
Is this all purpose or do you recommend something for closer trims?
Jeremysays
Hi Erich,
If you were using an older shaver or one that needed its head replaced, this may have caused the tugging. However, with the speed and number of blades on this razor I doubt that would be an issue.
It does have a pop up trimmer which you can use to maintain the edges on your beard.
I hope that helps!

I love this electric shaver. I think the Arc5 would be great for my husband, the features and the benefits are awesome. This may be a valentines gift or just a gift on any day. Hey ladies make sure that your man has this shaver . This is one razor that should be in a lot of peoples bathrooms
Jeremysays
Hey you are right, the Arc5 would make an excellent Valentine’s day gift! It has a powerful motor and 5 blades that will give your husband a quick and efficient shave.
Let me know how he likes it if you decide to get him one!

Hi Jeremy
It’s been several years since I have used an electric razor as I have in the past found them to be quite irritating. I am most interesting in the idea that the blades change speed depending on the thickness of the hair. Is there really that big an improvement for the cost in the quality of the shave that you get with 5 blades or is it just the speed?
Thanks
Dom
Jeremysays
Hi Dom,
It is a combination of all of the above. Plus you are also paying for the Clean & Charge station which helps keep your razor in top condition.
The motor turns the blades at 14,000 CPM which is a big jump from many who only offer 10,000 CPM. When you combine that with the extra blades is does lead to some efficiency. However, there are other shavers out there that still produce a quality shave without all of the bells and whistles.

Hi there,
Up to how many days will the power last if you don’t charge it daily and if you shave every day?
Also, I know this is a men’s shaver but can women use it to shave their legs, too? And if yes, will the sensor also adjust, since the amount of hair on women’s legs is only like 5% of what men’s beard are?
Thank you!
Jeremysays
Hello,
Great questions, the literature says you will get about 50 minutes of run time per charge so it depends on how long it takes you to shave. Even if it takes 3 minutes that is almost 17 days of shaving before you have to charge again!
Also, yes women can use this on their legs as well. I believe the sensor should detect the lack of hair on your legs and adjust accordingly.
Thanks for the comment!

Jeremy,
I have been looking for a really good razor for my boyfriend and I am definitely considering this one! My boyfriend is in the Army so he has to make sure he is always clean shaved and his hair grows so fast he has trouble keeping up with it!
Based on your web page and the reviews this sounds perfect for him. It is fast and convenient. It also sounds like it is perfect for a techy type guy (like my boyfriend) since it has sensors and the display that lets you know when it needs charged and cleaned.
One question: Maybe I missed this somewhere, but does it come with a warranty?
Thanks!
Jeremysays
Yes Fay, it does come with a limited two year warranty. If your boyfriend likes keeping up with technology then there sure is plenty about this electric shaver that he will love.
Let me know if you get it for him and how he likes it!

Hello Jeremy
I have really enjoyed just reading through your website content regarding the panasonic-es-lv95-s-arc5
I myself have tried using manual handheld razors. Then I moved onto electric shavers many years ago. However i found myself having to go back to manual razors from the likes of Gillette in order to the get the close shave I want
I never found electric shavers to be able to cut as well.
Having read this detailed review I am once again inclined to try electric once more.
I particularly liked the part where you mentioned this has a 5 blade system and Panasonics closest shave system to date
Thanks for doing this review, it is certainly swaying me to try once again with an electric.
Jeremysays
You’re welcome Damian, if you find you are still stuck on a safety razor, you may find that switching to a DE vs. the cartridge may save you money over the long run. I have another post here you might like.

I use an electric shaver most of the time. I have had mine for about 12 years now and I really need a new one. This is helpful review about this Panasonic. I am not sure I want to pay close to $300 for this shaver, however if it is the best and does the best job then I would. It seems to be one of the top shavers so that is good. The problem is that its hard to know how good it is without actually trying it out. I know that is not possible. I shave with normal razor blade sometimes because electric dry shavers dont always cut close enough or give clean shave. However, with this one and newer technology that problem might be resolved. Do you think this shaver can shave as clean as a mach gillette with 5 or 6 blades? thanks for your help. Matt B.
Jeremysays
Hey Matt,
Like you mentioned, these electric shavers can last 10 years or more so that would only equal about $30 a year for this razor which isn’t too bad if you think about it that way. Plus you will have to replace the head every 18 months or so.
However, this will not get as close as a cartridge razor with 5 blades on it. The electric shavers have to have a thin foil over the blades to protect you from cuts which allows it to get close but not as close as a safety razor. On those, the first blade or two pulls the hair up while the remaining blades cut the hair. This allows the hair to be cut below the surface of the skin, which can cause irritation.
So, while the current technology might allow this razor to get closer than your 12 year old, it is still not going to be an under the skin cut.
Hope that helps.

Panasonic products are always excellent. Reading your ES-LV95-S Arc5 Men’s Electric Shaver review, still proves the fact that panasonic is going far in technicnology.
The sensor makes the shaver sensitive so that it does not hurt the person using it. Everyone does not like pain , that is why most people will go for the shaver.
Apart from the beard, can you use it on anyother part of the body to shave.
Thank-you for the review.
Jeremysays
Yes absolutely Mariam you can definitely use this razor on other parts of the body like the legs or arms. You may want to a small test run on any sensitive areas but otherwise this razor should perform the same whether on the face or anywhere else.

Hi can I use the replacement lv9n on this shaver ?
Jeremysays
To be safe, I would stick to the recommended replacement foil.
