Whether this is your first razor or your tenth, the Parker 99R brings a great value and quality at a decent price.

Description Parker 99R Review

The Parker 99R is a quality safety razor made from brass and plated with Chrome. This means it has the weight to feel sturdy in your grip and will last for many years to come.

It also has a unique butterfly opening in the head making blade replacements easy and fast. Other safety razors require you to unscrew and disassemble the entire razor just to change the blade. Over the course of a year this will save you precious time.

The 99R has a length of 4 inches, which is a full inch longer vs. the Merkur 34C. For those of you who like the extra length you will love this textured long handle.

It also has a nice weight of 3.4 ounces. This is not the heaviest razor out there but it is definitely not the lightest. The safety razors with more weight tend to more of the work for you when shaving. You simply can guide the razor down your skin.

Who Is the Parker 99R Good For?

Parker 99r review 3

The Parker is great for beginners that are just switching over to wet shaving from an electric shaver or those of you who have been using a blade for years.

The quality is on par with Merkur and some other big name brands.

The head has a lower profile than some other razors. This makes it easier to get to hard to reach places like underneath your nose.

Since it is made with Brass it will last longer than other razors that are made with cheaper materials like Zamak.

Brass tends to not oxidize as fast when the chrome plating becomes compromised.

The head opens by twisting the knob at the bottom. One thing Parker could have included was a locking washer to really prevent this thing from opening while you are shaving. It shouldn’t, but just something to be mindful of.

The 99R is almost as aggressive as the Merkur 34C. This combined with the weight make it an efficient razor. It is solid and won’t slip in your hands.

Where Should You Buy the 99R?

When buying online Amazon usually has the best prices and they offer free shipping on orders over $50. So, if you decide to add on some packs of razors or shaving soap, you should be just over that threshold.

Or if you decide to buy the Parker 99R Safety Razor Set, that includes their black badger brush and a nice stand, then you will already be over that threshold.

The other nice thing about buying from Amazon is being able to see all of the reviews the other customers leave. Be sure to look for the ones that say ‘verified purchase’.

When Should You Clean the Parker 99R?

After each shave, you should open the top and rinse thoroughly with warm water and let it dry completely before closing it back up.

Once a week or every other week you should wash your razor with warm soapy water with a toothbrush or soft rag to keep the shine looking nice.

If you let this go to long tarnish could build up and you might have to try something a little stronger like vinegar.

Conclusion Parker 99R Review

After reading this review of the Parker 99R hopefully you can see that it can hold its own against some of the bigger brands. This is a great daily razor that will last you a long time.

Between the weight, length of the handle and the low profile of the head you will see an efficient performance that won’t keep you waiting in the morning.
