Product: Parker 26C Review

Rating: 4.5/5 stars on Amazon with over 150 reviews

Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon

Are you tired of your electric shaver? Check out this black beauty by Parker. Very similar to the 24C, the Parker 26C gives you performance as well as style you can be proud of.

This safety razor can definitely hold its own against some of the big boys like Merkur.

Who is Parker?

Parker Shaving has actually been around for over four decades.  They are family owned company that is known for its high-quality testing standards.

Parker produces their products in India but they are handcrafted with all of Parker’s engineering experience throughout the entire process.

They specialize in molding classic wet shaving practices with state of the art technology so you get the best possible shave.

What Are The Features Of The Parker 26C?

parker 26c review

The 26C is a three-piece open comb safety razor. This is a little different than most of the Parker razors on the market that have butterfly openings.

However, traditionalist tend to prefer the three-piece razors as there is less room for error when setting the blade.

Simply line the blade holes over the three prongs and screw it tight. Done!

With the butterfly openings, there is the slightest bit of room for the blade to fall out of alignment, but this is not usually an issue.

It has a 4-inch-long handle making it one of the longer razors you will find.  The length of the handle tends to be a preference issue or if you have larger hands you may like this as well.

Some say that shorter handles give more control.

The razor has a nice weight at 3.3 ounces which will feel sturdy in your grip. This razor will do more of the work for you and you shouldn’t have to apply too much pressure when guiding the razor down your face.

The feature that stands out with this razor is the slick black handle. Most of the safety razors today are chrome plated. Which have that nice shiny look but we think this black handle will stand out from the crowd.

When Should You Choose the Parker 26C VS. The 24C?

There is actually a lot of science involved when determining if you should buy the Parker 24C vs. the 26C…

Do you prefer a black handle or a chrome handle?!

Seriously though, these two razors are virtually the same except for the different handles. Besides that, they have the same dimensions, head, etc.

Why Choose An Open Comb Safety Razor?

Open comb razors like the 26C are often preferred by men with thick facial hair or fast growing hair. This reason is that there is less metal touching the surface of your skin which allows more hair to be cut with each pass.

However, this could have a negative effective if you find yourself with sensitive skin. Combine that with the moderate aggressiveness of this comb, you may want to opt for a milder razor like this Merkur.

Where Should You Buy the Parker 26C?

The best place to buy the Parker 26C is Amazon. They usually have the best prices and you can get free shipping on orders over $50. While this razor is usually around $30 you can easily add a shaving brush or some shaving cream so you will have all your necessary wet shaving supplies.

Parker 26C Review (1)It comes with 5 Shark Super chrome blades but we recommend grabbing a variety pack if you are just starting out. The razor blades can actually have the most variation with different skin and beard types.

Conclusion Parker 26C Review

As you can see the Parker 26C is a great razor for a decent price. It has many of the features that you would look for from other big name brands.

It does have the open comb so it will be on the aggressive side but if that is what you need then you should enjoy this razor.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Not this razor inparticular. But I’m going to go with it. After reading this very well written review you have here. You hit the nail on the head and answered every question I could possibly ask about it. I will share this post with my friends for sure. Parker 26C it is.

That’s great to hear James, there are so many choices for safety razors out there so I know it can be overwhelming when shopping.

Drop me a line after you have used it for a little while and let me know how you like it.

Ahh the traditional safety razor. I always wanted to get one of those to use on my guest but I just can’t get away from the straight!

I noticed you recommended the shark blades. Is there a reason why? I enjoy the derby blades, personna Israeli steel, and Dorco premiums. I’ve heard a lot about the merkur and would like to know if you’ve tried them out?

I love performing the wet shave and really enjoy the reviews you give. Keep em coming!

Sorry for the confusion Shannon, I’m not necessarily recommending the Shark’s they just happen to come with this razor kit on Amazon. I have another post that mentions the other two brands you speak of.

What straight razor do you use?

This is a great site. Lots of detailed information. I am in the market for a new electric shaver that I can take with me on business trips. In the past I have used Norelco products, but will certainly do some product checking on this site… I like what I am seeing Braun 3 3040S.

      Hey TD,

An electric razor is a great option to travel with. If you charge it before you go it should last you a full week so you may not even need to bring a charger on shorter trips.

The 3040S provides a great value and will definitely get the job done.

I won’t lie, I would be sort of in the middle with buying this type of razor. While I have thick facial hair the agressiveness of the blade would help with that aspect, but unfortunately I do have sensitive skin, especially on the neck. It seems like this would last a little longer though than the Gillette brand that I use constantly. I will keep this product in mind though if I ever feel the need to switch. Thanks for the review!

Yes you are in a tough situation with your beard and skin type. However, this could help with your sensitive skin on your neck as it won’t cut the hair below the skin surface unless you do multiple passes.

It could be worth a try, will probably be cheaper than your cartridge refills.
