Product: Wilkinson Sword Razor Blades Review

Rating: 4.6/5 stars with over 600 reviews

Cheapest Place to Buy: Amazon

Wilkinson Sword razor blades are another fine double edge razor blade you might want to add to your lineup.

If you just started shaving with a safety razor, finding the right blade is crucial for a close and comfortable shave.

Besides the type of razor, you are using, blades are the next most important aspect of your shave.

This is our Wilkinson Sword Razor Blades review!

Who Is Wilkinson Sword?

Wilkinson Sword has been around for a long time.  Since the 1700’s in fact.

However, they only started making safety razors and shavings accessories in 1898, after 100 years of guns and swords!

They are constantly creating some of the most innovative products on the market and have so for a long time.

In 1962, they were one of the first companies to start coating their razor blades with PTFE. There is a lot of science behind this compound but it acts as a non-stick coating for the blades, reducing friction and wear and tear on the blade.4

This means the blades should last longer and slide easier over your skin, reducing irritation.

Since then Wilkinson has continued to put out many safety razors for men and women with all kinds of functions and features.

What are The Classic Wilkinson Sword Razor Blades?

Wilkinson Sword really adds some love to their classic double edge razor blades with a triple coating process.

First, they chrome to reduce corrosion, followed by ceramic to hard the blade and finally the PTFE mentioned earlier to improve its slickness.

This triple coating process should help the blade last longer and give you more comfortable shaves than others.

These could be great double edge razors for those of you with sensitive skin. Because of the PTFE coating these can offer a smooth shave.

Especially if you combine them with a mild razor like the Van Der Hagen or Merkur 23C.

One man has been using them since 1958 with thin skin, they have given him no reason to try another blade.

Just like the Personna’s, many guys feel that these Wilkson blades offer a great balance of sharpness and smoothness. They definitely are not as sharp as the mighty Feather blades but won’t leave your skin feeling raw either.

For those of you with an average beard and skin type this could be your blade.

This doesn’t have many negative reviews but most of them are just men who didn’t like the blade or didn’t work well for their skin.

There were a few customers who mentioned they only received 5 blades so make sure you confirm with the seller you are buying 20 packs of 5 for 100 total blades.

Why Did You Cut Yourself With Wilkson Sword Razor Blades?

Shaving with a double edge safety razor takes a little more time and effort than shaving with an electric shaver.

You lose some convenience but may gain a better shave.

That being said, it is important you take your time when first learning or you can cut yourself.

You can do some things to set yourself up for success however, like adding a pre-shave lube. This goes under your shaving cream.

Some guys also prefer to use an old-school shaving soap that you whip with a shaving brush in a mug before you apply it to your face.

Besides that, you just need to take your time, use slow and short strokes, and go with the grain when you are starting out.

When you shave against the grain you will increase your chances of irritation.

Where to Buy Wilkinson Sword Razor Blades?

This 100 pack of Wilkinson Sword double edge razor blades might be hard to find at your local convenient store but they are competitively priced on Amazon.

You also get free shipping on orders over $35 if you decide to add a disposal case or some shaving cream to your cart.

Plus, you can read over 600 reviews for these highly-rated blades.

Of course, you can’t know for sure how you will like them until you take them for a test ride but you can usually find some reviews that you can relate to.

There are also several variety packs of razor blades if you are unsure of which ones you might want to try before committing to buying 100 Wilkinson’s.

Wilkinson Sword Razor Blades Review Conclusion

If you have sensitive skin or a thick beard these probably are not the blades for you.

However, if you don’t suffer from one of the extremes and looking for a middle of the road shave the Wilkinson Sword Classic razor blade could be the one for you.

They are not as cheap as others but you normally have to pay for quality.

This is great. I see where you mentioned in the article that it was for people with sensitive skin. I have very sensitive skin and I will bump up from using most razors. I will give this a shot being how thorough and direct you was in describing it. I will leave you some feedback on how my experience went. Thank you.

I can confirm as a person, with very sensitive skin, that these blades do not irritate my skin, with a full 3 pass shave, and 4th to hit where I missed. Been using the Classic, for 8 years now. I’d recommend using a good quality soap or cream from Proraso, and let the razor do all the work.
