Don’t let the simplicity of the look fool you, the Braun Series 3 340s-4 is a great electric shaver. Having personally tested this razor we can say it is worth spending a little more for this one compared to some of the other razors that are under $100.
Without further ado, here is our Braun Series 3 340s-4 review
The 340s-4 has many features that are designed to improve performance on this electric shaver.
To start, the head has 3 separate foil blades with independent suspension. This allows you to get a super close shave, especially for this being an electric shaver.
Combined with the precision long hair trimmer allows you to get a close shave in a relatively short amount of time.
Of course, just like other electric shavers they recommend you replace the head every 18 months. They are around $20 on Amazon, however depending on use you may be able to stretch this to 24 months.
Say you have been on vacation and haven’t shaved in a week. Simply run one pass over your beard with the long hair trimmer, get the foil head wet or apply your favorite shaving cream or oil and then you will be ready to shave your beard down to the skin.
I didn’t start wet shaving with this electric shaver when I first got it, however I find that it works better and cuts more efficiently with a little moisture.
It doesn’t take a lot either I simply run the head under water in the sink before shaving.
The marketing says the 340S will work on three day beard but it will work a lot better if you trim down first.
The battery also seems to last a long time. If you charge this once a week that should be all you need to get through the week. It also has an LED display warning you of a low battery.
To be honest, I usually let the battery run all the way out because it retains its power all the way through the charge.
The cleaning brush is nice you can keep the foil head working efficiently. It easily pops off when you depress two buttons on either side of the head.
I am not a huge fan of the charging stand, it is easier in my opinion to just plug the cord straight into the razor but if you have room and like the look of it, it could add a nice décor to your vanity.

Mostly everyone has reiterated what we have said in this review. The few complaints are typical of any product. Some customers just get a bad version; however, this is few and far between.
There are many reviews that compare the Braun 340 to other well known shavers or older versions with the having the 340s come out on top.
One downfall is that you cannot use the shaver while it is charging, Braun could have spent the money on that.
This solid razor is built to last, you can tell Braun’s engineers spent their time with this one, despite it being a more affordable razor.
You will also be happy to know one guy sent two of these back when the on and off switch broke but only had the receipt for one, Braun happily sent two new shavers back to him!
He had a second one because he loved how well it worked with his thick beard.
One other note, when you remove the heads to replace or clean them be gentle and certainly do not drop the shaver. I did this with mine and one the plastic clips that holds the head came off.
Luckily I was able to bend it back and it works again, but they are sensitive.
While the Braun Series 3 340S-4 certainly doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles you can find on an electric shaver, it will certainly get the job done.
There is a newer model of this razor you may want to check out if you like the features.
