Description Parker 96R Review
The Parker 96R is a great razor for beginners. For one it is not expensive so you won’t have to spend a lot of money learning how to wet shave if this is your first razor.
It is also easy to use with the butterfly doors. This makes it really easy to change out your blades.
This razor is also good for many different types of skin as one side of the razor is more aggressive than the other. This would be good if you are sensitive in some areas of have thicker hair in others.
What Are The Pros & Cons Of The Parker 96R?
This safety razor is made with super attention to detail. Some of the pros include:
- Butterfly doors – allows for a quick changing of the blade
- Textured grip – helps prevent slips when you are shaving
- Solid Brass Frame – gives the razor a weight of 2.1 oz. to do most of the work while shaving
- Longer handle – 3.78 inches is good for those of you with longer hands
As you can see the 96R has some great features. However, with the good must come the bad:
- Butterfly doors – have potential to break over time, may not hold blades as securely as traditional combs.
- Paint – the paint on the handle could ship off over time. Other razors that are all chrome plated do not have this issue
Like any product on Amazon, it is not perfect. There is a little bit of a trade-off for the convenience of the butterfly doors and the risk of them breaking over time.
This razor has a longer handle but weigh less vs. the Merkur 34C. So, if you have smaller hands you may like the control you get with the 34C or if you like the lighter weight razor you can always choke up your grip on the 96R.
However, with so many customers giving this razor such a high rating it does not appear to be an issue.
Where Are Parker Safety Razors Made?
Parker has been making quality safety razors since 1973, that is over 40 years of experience. There razors are made in India but they are highly selective in the vendors and materials they use.
They are a family owned and operated business that has retailers in Europe and the America’s. They are constantly seeking to continually improve upon their products with each generation that is made.
Why Should You Buy the Parker 96R?
The Parker 96R is going to give you a great daily shave. Between the weight and the aggressiveness, you won’t have to apply much pressure to get a close shave with this razor.
Just remember to take short strokes and rinse frequently.
Even if you are a beginner or have an angular face you will find shaving with this razor is a breeze. You can further help out your blade with a nice pre-shave oil and quality shaving soap.
This pack also comes with 5 Shark Super Chrome razors but you may want to order some other brands, like Derby, to see which one work well with your skin and beard type.
If you are switching from disposable cartridge razors or electric shavers you will be in for a real treat!
